Since 1770, the Smith-Currier Farmhouse changed deeds between four families, and each time a veteran was the proud owner of the home and farm. Today, the Ballingers– US Marine Corps and New England Law Enforcement Veterans– honorably carry on the agricultural legacy of the Currier Farm. Northern Pines Canines (NPK9) breeds working dogs from proven performance to fulfill the needs of the special operations community, law enforcement, and personal protection/service/therapy dog requirements. Our Story
At Northern Pines Canines, we are second-generation, working dog breeders, handlers, and trainers with over eighty years of collective experience in law enforcement and military service. We exist because the availability of working dogs capable of independent, high-level performance in real situations is nearly gone due to breeding for form over function. We are the only provider of American-bred working dogs for the Nation’s most elite special forces unit. Our dogs are bred from canines with proven performance in real-world operations and raised on our historic New Hampshire farm with a focus on character, temperament, and health. Whether destined for elite service or as cherished family pets, our commitment to excellence is unwavering, reflecting our deep respect for the sacrifices made by our servicemembers and the enduring bond between dogs and their human companions.
